Got a Job!!

Well after searching left and right and sending out resumes like crazy and joining up with about 5 recruiters... I got a job!

And get this.... the job was posted on Monster, but it's a direct hire, no Recruiters!
How do you like them apples.
I am taking a cut in what I wanted for my hourly pay rate, but it's only a dollar cut, and at this point I'm more than happy to take it!!
We need to try to make some headway here in regards to our finances, this job won't get us caught up exactly, we'll still be in the red every month. But about 1/4 in the red of what we currently are.

Now I just hope that the kid takes to day care OK. Red Toddler hasn't been in day care since he was 6 months old. Granted they know for the most part what to do, but I'm still concerned that they will freak out and call me so that I have to leave my new job to deal with Red Toddler. Yeah I know.. you think they are prepared and trained for that sorta thing or that it can't be that bad, let me tell ya. This kid has impressed both his father and myself with his Terrible Two's tantrums.
He goes ALL out. Screaming at decibels that I cannot ever in my wildest dreams even consider reaching.
Literally throws himself to the floor and doesn't care what he hits or where he hits himself when he lands, cuz that's just not the point.
Gets on all fours, lifts his head and then gives the floor a head butt, a Forceful Hard head butt. Over and over and over again. If the floor isn't handy for some reason, he's walked over and used the wall or the side of the crib that is stationary and doesn't budge (he's gotten his worst forehead bruise from the crib).
My nanny book said to let the kid have his fit, just keep him in a safe place where he can't get hurt and then ignore him. I put him in the crib thinking it was his safe place, HA!
Anyway, putting him in day care next week starting Monday and I'll be home that day. I start on Tuesday, but daddyjunk will be home, so if there is any issue they can call daddyjunk.
Hopefully there won't be any.

It's an exciting thing and a nervous thing now. Exciting that I'm starting a new job doing what I know best, and nervous for my little one and him causing so much crap at day care that I get called away too much...

Not to mention, I'll miss the little psycho too.

True Jerseyan
My brother Mr. PITA, asked me to update my blog, cuz he's tired of looking at the career post.
HUMPH!  When I told him to update his, he said his was boring.
Well considering that he hasn't posted anything in I don't know how long, then I would have to agree.
Anyway, army post is gone bro, happy now???

Found this from a friend, and it fits like a glove!

Gotta click on it to make it bigger and easier to read..

New Career ? NAHHH

I just find it absolutely unbelievable that the US Army Reserves are responding to my Resume for an Accounts Payable position on the job search sites.

This is how they need to resort to recruiting people these days?
And then when I can't make it through day one of basic training they are going to deny me a job as an A/P clerk? How's that supposed to feed my kids and pay my bills.
Nice of them to offer me a job that they have no intention of giving me, only to try to get me to join and fight when they need extra people.
I'm told this is not a new thing... them sending out responses to job postings online. But it's new to me, and I think it's low and underhanded to think that I'm so desperate for a job that I'll join up with them for a position they probably don't intend to give me, but instead give me a gun and possibly send me to my death.
They should make it perfectly clear in their job offers and state that I would have to go through basic and if called upon would have to go fight.
But the emails I got, don't say that at all. Hence the low and underhanded statement.

Thanks but no thanks.
This fat mother of two toddler boys would like to see her kids grow up.
So I won't waste their time with my failing basic only to be sent home and I won't let them waste my life in case they are desperate enough to pass me through basic anyway.

My baby is now a Toddler!

Well Red Baby has now moved up to Red Toddler.
He's now 2 years old and full of the terrible two's and then some!
He throws a fit to beat the band... worse than anything his older brother ever did.
He likes to bang his head on stuff when he's having his fit, so much so that he gets a nice dark bruise and lump on his forehead about the size of a half dollar.
Mentioned it to the doc at his 24 month checkup and she said, ignore him and he'll stop.
Thing is.  We do ignore him.  And that's when he's bangin his head on things.  We move out of his sight range and we listen and we can hear the 'bang bang bang' of his head against the side of the crib.  We put him in the crib thinking it's a place where he can least hurt himself.
Yea Right!  NOT!  He's found the side rail the best to get the nicest forehead bruise.
So we are hoping that he grows out of the head banging even if he continues the screaming.

He was good for my brother and sister in law when they came over for his birthday.  So that was good of him.
This is the year of Terrible Two's, the beginning of Potty training, and getting him to talk more and socialize with other children his age!

Happy Birthday Drool Boy! 8-)

Job Searching ~

Ok, so I've been looking for a job and it's been rough as hell.
Basically, every company out there have decided to use recruiters to find their employees rather than placing and ad and doing their own interviews and such.
I understand that they are looking for someone specific and think these recruiters will weed out the ones that they don't want, but Come On!

It's very frustrating as someone that wants to work, is willing to work, and looking for work, to be held back by recruiters.  They are asking me to temp work for a day or two, which will only pay the babysitter, and not even the gas for the car, forget about paying any bills.
Or they are asking me to interview for a job that is an hour away in the direction of full on traffic.  I have to be able to pick up the boys from daycare before 6pm.  If I'm driving home at known traffic hours on major highways, for a job that we already know is an hour away, there's no way I'll be able to pick them up on time if there is an accident.

I've signed up now with three different agencies and have sent my resume to two new agencies this afternoon.  So you know I'll have to go sign up with them as well for any job opportunity.
And I got a call from another recruiter from an agency I didn't sign up with yet and returned her call (left a message on the machine).  So that means I'll have to sign up with her as well for a shot in the dark.

How many recruiters does it take to get one person a long term job?
Let's seeeee.... so far we have 3 recruiters that have posted job opportunities in my area, to which I applied and signed up with them for, to find out that they are thinking of me for another position they might have and will get back to me, but I haven't heard anything from them yet or I hear from an associate with a job that doesn't fit what I'm looking for, forgetting completely about the one for which I applied.

And yet, here I am, still unemployed, in debt, and coming up short every month.
Where are all these so called positions that are posted online with agencies?

Oh How about this!!!  I got an "Employment Opportunity" email.  Seems it's from someone from the US Reserves, they musta scanned the resumes posted and decided to send me this email to join the reserves to work for them and then I'm sure if they need help, to hand me a gun to go fight.
I'm looking for an Accounting position, not a position on their death row.
There's just so many ways that receiving that "Employment Opportunity" from the US Army is so wrong.
Just another recruiter that wants to place you in a position that you don't want and not looking for!
