RT = Red Toddler (2 year old boy)
RB = Red Boy (4 year old in April, boy)
Here is our typical weekday.
Try to wake up at 5:30am, but hit snooze and end up waking at 6am, which puts me at least 15 minutes behind where I want to be.
Shower, then try to wake the boys at 6:15am with a very loud tv.
They don't move.
Turn on their lights and sing "Goood Morrrnninnggg".
They roll their heads to the other cheek and ignore me.
I walk away to dry off and start to get dressed.
I put on undergarments and some face (foundation).
Walk over and get some coffee and start waffles for the boys breakfast. Prep the morning milk bottle for Red Toddler (contains his vitamin drops and only about 4 ounces of milk).
Prep Red Toddlers lunch bag. Includes 2 to 3 snacks (apple jacks, mini cheese cracker sandwiches, he enjoys those and/or an extra goody, either mini cake snacks or cheese doodles), his lunch (which sometimes needs to be cooked and put in tupperware before sending to day care to be reheated), and his sippy cup (to exchange for the morning bottle). Cut up R.T.'s waffle to little triangles and put in tupperware to bring to day care for his breakfast.
I change Red Toddlers diaper, then his clothes and give him his morning milk bottle. Then releasing him from the confines of his crib onto the floor.
Meanwhile, we have hoped that Red Boy has awaken and is already started dressing himself. Or at the very least, has gone to the bathroom to take care of his morning business.
When he hasn't, that means I have to shake and wake!
Which usually produces a not so pleasant individual. Putting it mildly.
Getting him awake, dressed, and ready to possibly eat a waffle, sometimes he doesn't want it and it sits on the counter till we get home.
This takes me the better part of my morning preparations.
Mind you, I'm probably still in my undergarments at this point. Running around tending to the needs of the boys.
Finally when I have the boys dressed and cleaned up, I let them watch their morning show while I put some clothes on and style my hair. Then it's about 7:30am.
Grab RT to put on his coat, RB has his on and is waiting for zipper help. Grab my purse and R.T's lunch bag. And R.T. holding him facing out away from me so that he doesn't get my work clothes wet with any drool, snot, juice, food, all of the above.
Walk out to the car (thankfully only about 10 feet away), open the passenger side back door for R.B. then the front passenger door, throw the bags in the car.
Walk around to the drivers side back door to strap R.T. in his car seat. Open the drivers door to turn the ignition and get the heaters going (never seem to have the time to run out of the house to do that before dragging the kids into the car). Walk back around to the passenger side of the car and close the front passenger door. Go over to R.B. at the back passenger door and buckle him up in his booster.
Walk back around to the drivers side door and climb in, buckle up and off we go to day care.
I'm about 15 minutes behind. Cuz I always want to drop the boys off and have left the day care by 7:30am. Instead we are just getting into the car at that time.
I arrive at day care within minutes, again thankfully it's only around the block and across the street.
Leaning into the back seat I unbuckle R.B. from the front seat he gets out and meets me at the back drivers side door where I've already unbuckled R.T. from his seat and grabbed his bag.
We all trot into the baby center portion to drop off R.T. Take off his coat, place him into the high chair table seat. Listen to him yelling cuz he doesn't want to sit in it.
Grab his waffle breakfast that was prepped earlier and place some waffle in front of him as well as his sippy cup of juice. Make sure the morning day care worker has a video going (usually Barney or Sesame St.), deposit R.T.'s lunch into the frig. Give him a quick kiss, hoping that he is not yelling or crying at this point, then put his coat and bag in his cubby and off I go.
Red Boy and I walk over to the next building to drop him off. Take his coat off, sign him in. Give him a hug and a kiss and for the past week he's been crying when I leave.
Dunno why, he's only been going there for 2 years and he's been really good about not crying. Usually he's running into the place ready to play. But lately the poor little guy has been crying when I leave. He doesn't want me to go. But by this time, it's 7:45am and if I don't leave, I'll be late for work. I have to be at work by 8am.
So I leave with R.B. crying at the window, as he's watching me get into my car.
If I can leave the day care by 7:45am and there's no traffic, then I can be at work by 8am. Otherwise.. I've been about 5 to 10 minutes late, which I have to make up during lunch (only get a half hour lunch) or I make up when it's time to leave at 4:30pm. Leaving work at 5pm can put me in the middle of some traffic and can be a pain in the rear.
At 4:30pm, I leave work to go pick up the boys. I make it there just before 5pm.
I get RB and he runs to me yelling, "MOMMY MOMMY!" and he gives me a big hug.
As I put his coat on him, he begins to tell me the news of his day.
We then walk over to the baby center next door to pick up RT. He's in the high chair table most times just hanging out waiting to be picked up along with the rest of the infant/toddlers.
I grab his coat and lunch bag and when he sees me he gets all smiley and starts to laugh. The caregivers usually take him out at that point and check his diaper. They change him if need be otherwise they let him free to roam while I get his empty tupperware or left overs.
RB roams around at my side or will usually hang near RT.
I'll put his coat on him and then we head out the door.
Back at the car, open the door on the passenger back seat for RB and then walk over to put RT in the car. Buckle up! Walk back over to RB and buckle him up. Walk back over to the drivers side and climb in and buckle up!!
To home we gooooo..... park the car, leaning into the back seat I unbuckle RB and he climbs out and heads to our back door. I climb out with bags in my hand, then to RT and unbuckle his 5 point harness, pick him up and head to the back door. Unlock the door and everyone IN!
RB sits on the rug to pull off his shoes and puts them with the other shoes, takes off his coat and puts it in his home cubby (it's a wooden coat cubby thingy). I drop the bags on the table by the door and take RT's coat off of him, and he runs to the living room while I put his coat in the cubby. RB is right behind him.
Then it's my turn to take my shoes off and change from my work clothes to mommy clothes.
Red Boy will come calling after me, wanting something to eat. "I'm hungry mommy, I want to eat." "Ok, let me change first will ya?" "Ok mommy". Into the bedroom walks Red Toddler, he climbs on the bed and sits there looking at me expectedly.
Guess he's hungry too....
My second job of 'mommy' continues from early this morning, going into the night, to start again the next day.
